Guzheng is a musical instrument with over 2500 years history dating back to 475–221 BC. It is written as 古筝 in the Chinese language. The first character, 古 (Gu), means ancient or antique; whereas the second character 筝 (Zheng) is the actual name of this musical instrument. Due to its long history, it is commonly called Guzheng by people nowadays. Historically, it also inspired the creation of many other similar instruments across Asia, such as Koto in Japan, Gayageum in Korea, Yatga in Mongolia and đàn Tranh in Vietnam.
